Pearl Care

Pearls are very soft and need special care. To keep them lustrous and beautiful we suggest the following:

  • Always remember – Last thing on. First thing off.
  • Store pearls in a protective pouch to protect them from other jewellery.
  • Avoid contact with cosmetics, perfume, hairspray, perspiration, chlorine, ultrasonic cleaning, acids, dust and grit.
  • After use it is a good idea to wipe with a damp cloth
  • Avoid extreme heat or very dry conditions
  • If your pearls need to be cleaned use a pearl safe cleaner or have them professionally cleaned
  • Pearls should never be stored in a hanging position as this makes the strand slack and reduces the elasticity of the thread.

If you have pearls that through neglect have lost their lustre, you can rub them gently with a bit of olive oil on a cloth. This will restore some of the lustre, at least temporarily.
